Kinect Sports: Finish Line
04-11-2010After working through so many new angles of game development in the last couple of years and finally crunching on this thing like we've never crunched before, it's hard for us to believe that launch day has arrived at last. But the glorious mirage is reality, it's November 4th, and Kinect Sports is unleashed in the US today alongside the Kinect sensor itself. Good times.
Dozens of reviews are already in circulation, from mainstream sources and the dedicated gaming press alike, but if those don't do a good enough job of whetting your appetite for Sports then you can watch the launch trailer right here. It's also a hive of activity at kinectshare.com, where the first keen Sports players are uploading their video highlights and choosing to share them through social media.
There's plenty more in the pipeline, with Sports outfits and props going up on Avatar Marketplace today, and masses of other stuff we can't tell you about yet including a great way to get your fix of competitive league action. Keep up with your friendly neighbourhood social media types on the Rare Twitter and Facebook profiles, where we'll be tracking reviews and feedback and hopefully getting hold of some codes and other stuff to give away.
If you're not in the US but your palms are sweaty for Kinect, don't worry. You'll have none of those old-fashioned half-a-year six-month waiting periods to deal with. No sir, it's all happening in November: closer-to-home European players can pick up Kinect (with a copy of Sports – we will be watching) on November 10th, Australia/Oceania on the 18th and Japan on the 20th. Living room athletes of the world, unite!
